MindSet

Suck it up, Buttercup! is not so much something we should say to other people as much as we need to say it to ourselves. It's a kind of mindset that operates under the premise that nobody wants to hear our sob story because everyone has one.

Seriously, look around, everyone is going through a tough time right now. No matter how bad you think you have it, it pales in comparison to what the people of Haiti are going through. Just when you think you have it bad, just realize it could always be much, much worse. When you think of all the people in the world that live with out running water or a roof over their head...then you have to realize that you are being petty and weak. Suck it up, Buttercup! things could be worse.

Regardless of where you are in life or what you have accomplished, today is the day you start off on the right foot. Things aren't going to change overnight, they are going to change only after a long, steady, consistent effort. It isn't going to happen as you walk out the front door...it is gong to take some time. Furthermore, if you can't see the good that is going on all around you, then you are never going to see it.

Part of the miracle of success is recognizing the small opportunities to acknowledge the good that is going on in the world and on your front door step. You have to recognize and seize those little opportunities to live richly and make a difference at the most basic level. If you can't do that at a basic level, then you won't be able to do it at an elevated level. It is at the moment that you realize the little things are important that you realize the little things are in fact, the elevated level. There are those who are waiting around for a big event to happen so that they can be all that they can be, but that big event never materializes and then they realize they have been shunning people in their lives that are truly important...unfortunately, they realize this too late because they have been stuck in their own drama...that is the definition of a tragic life...living only for yourself and not bringing value to anyone else.

For that I say...suck it up, Buttercup! get over yourself!
